How does it work?

Assuming you have a laptop in the DJ booth... Access to a broadband connection... And you're running Windows... You would install the WinAmp media player, as wel las WinAmp's Shoutcast Source plugin. All of this takes about two minutes… Once this is installed, you're ready to broadcast! Conceivably, you could have your listeners log directly into your DJ booth laptop to hear your broadcast, however that would likely limit you to 5 to 7 listeners at best, unless your DSL or Cable connection offers an outbound data rate of 10 to 15 Mbps. Very doubtful, and even it did, you're now broadcasting to the world through the ISP's outbound routing schemes -A really bad idea..

The web server is connected to huge Internet pipes, which can handle demand for data throughput of 90 Gigabits per second in our case.
